The Grasshopper and the Ant

What is the lesson from this fable?

What is the link between this and Proverbs 6:

Go to the ant, you sluggard;
consider its ways and be wise!
 It has no commander,
    no overseer or ruler,
yet it stores its provisions in summer
and gathers its food at harvest.

Think about what God wants us to do and behave.

Harvest assembly 2013

On Friday 20th September we held our Harvest Assembly.
Sea side base shared their brilliant 'Harvest writing and  pictures', and sang a harvest song.

The children had been busy making bread .......

Lots of people brought foot for our harvest table. We thanked God for the wonderful food His Earth provides for us.
The gifts will be boxed up and sent to the Blandford Food Bank to share amongst the community.

Bishop Graham of Sherborne visits our school.

Today we were honoured by a visit from Dr.Graham Kings, Bishop of Sherborne.
First he took assembly and reminded us of the story of Jesus getting lost as a child.
"Later, He was found in the temple asking questions of the elders." Bishop Graham explained that Jesus
"increased in wisdom and in stature and in favour with God and man." [ Luke 2.52]
for it is through seeking answers to questions that we learn.
Then the Bishop volunteered to answer any questions about God. As always we thought of many!
"How did God make the earth?" "Why did Jesus go back to heaven?" "Does God only see Christians?" "Why does God let bad things happen?" "Where did God get the idea of humans?" "Where is God?" "What does God do?"
Bishop Graham's answers left us in no doubt that God is the creator, He is all around and with us always. He loves us and wants us to love His world and the people in it. He loves us so much He allows us freedom and choice.
Finally he asked us a question 'What do you think God is like?' Here are some of the answers inspired by the visit.... 'loving', 'gentle', 'caring', 'considerate',  'creative', 'thoughtful',  'kind', ''generous',                                                                                    AMAZING!

The Seven Natural Wonders of the World

So - it's Arts Week again and this time we're looking at the Seven Natural Wonders of the world.

As well as developing your art skills take some time to stand in awe and wonder at these beautiful creations put upon our earth for us all to enjoy.

By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, And by the breath of His mouth all their host. He gathers the waters of the sea together as a heap; He lays up the deeps in storehouses. Let all the earth fear the Lord; Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him. For He spoke, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast (Psalm 33:6-9).

Perservering

St Paul wrote to his church in Corinth...
Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it.  (1 Corinthians 9:24)
What did he mean? How is this linked to Incy Wincy Spider?
